CRBR did not explain their process. They were in a hurry to get a contract signed. I was told they know how submit to the insurance company, so they pay for the services. Yet I still had to pay over $8,000. The employees seemed nice and considerate, but the work was only fair. I had a roof leak which led to the ceiling in my kitchen completely falling down. When they did start to dry out and repair the ceiling it took a week and that was after the ceiling was cut out and removed. The patch for the ceiling looked good at first but once painted the texture did not match the rest of the room. They were not going to blow the insulation until I asked for it since the rest of my house was that way. I think they were cutting corners in material. I paid just over $8,000. to get the ceiling repaired. The work done was not worth that amount of money.
I would encourage everyone who is considering this company to search other options. I really wish I had.

Hi Vicki,
Thank you for taking the time to speak with our Quality Assurance Coordinator. As she stated, you do have a warranty on your project and if there is any work or cleaning that is not up to your standards, we would be happy to address it.
We didn't sign a contract for repairs until six weeks after the loss. However, we do ask our project managers to check on customers about once a week to assure their homes are repaired following a loss.
We offered to use batt insulation instead of blown in insulation over the ceiling repair as some people prefer not having blown in insulation.
Again, we would be happy to look at the texture to assure it matches and perform any clean up needed.
I apologize that you were not pleased with the work performed at your home and would be happy to make it right.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. - Julie J.Durham, CA01Mar 19, 2024
Unethical, illegal, and shady company that will LIE and charge you MUCH more than what was quoted and discussed without your consent. They are extremely unprofessional and "management" is worse than the laborers. The service they provided was a subpar clean up job in a 300 sqft kitchen and living room-- ripped out a 10x10 piece of carpet, hauled away a refrigerator and dishwasher and cleaned up some trash. They were supposed to sanitize the floors and counters after, but did not get around to finishing. They worked 6 hours when they said they worked a full day, they broke the water main at the house and refused to take any responsibility. They ended up charging about $480 an hour that I did not agree or consent to when we had already discussed the cost beforehand. I've discussed the overcharge with management and they just want money, they do not care about their customers at all! I do not know how they are even in business with their bait and switch tactics, unreasonable charges, and illegal operations. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM!!!

Called CRBR for water damage caused by snow. They were very responsive. However, their job is to assess and remove the damaged areas. Here is where the problems occurred. They gave no thought or care in the demolition as to how the repair will occur. The cost to fix the uneven or partial cuts for sheetrock, the damage they did in jerking out the cabinets, etc. significantly increased the costs for repairs. In addition, they didn't cap the water so when it was turned back on, it gushed out. They didn't secure the house when they left for the day. The biggest issue is they were shady in providing a cost estimate to repair their mess - waiting to see what the insurance was going to pay.

CRBR is a fraudulent company who did not give an estimate for their work as required by California law. This company promised that were are negotiating with our insurance company and meanwhile billed us far more than insurance would ever reimburse. Once it came time to negotiate payment with the insurance company they filed a fraudulent mechanics lien on our property. Now I will have to file a lawsuit to get it removed. In addition their mitigation work was subpar and they damage our property during their mitigation services. Their workers are mostly unskilled labors and the company had terrible communication throughout the process. STAY AWAY!!

Hi Cody,
First, let me apologize for upsetting you. We likely could have better explained this process to you better ahead of time.
I believe we have this issue resolved. Emergency services for water, fire damage, etc., are always difficult to provide an estimate for ahead of time as the full scope of work is unknown until the technicians start testing for how far the moisture has traveled or how far smoke/fire damage has traveled into unseen areas. That is why insurers do not require an estimate ahead of time.
After we complete the work, we send the estimate, photos and moisture readings to the insurer, then they review our estimate. We use a pricelist that is provided by the insurance company.
The only time a customer would receive a Mechanics Lien is when it is getting close to 90 days and we have not received payment. It's how we reserve our right to be paid. The dollar amount listed, is the price we know of at the time. This is a normal practice.
Please always feel free to call into the office and go up the ladder if you are not receiving an adequate explanation.
Thank you for your feedback. - David W.Paradise, CA01Aug 16, 2023
After the snow last March, a crack in the drywall appeared from the ceiling to the floor on the marriage line of our manufactured home. The home is 34 years old. Called crbr, they sent out their estimator and it was agreed the ceiling needed opened, the unknown was how much had to be opened. When they started the work, they only opened 1 stud bay up to about 8-9'. I told their supervisor they never even looked for the problem, he didn't care and proceeded to close the wall. Their contract had 230 Sq. ft of sheet rock in their quote. They didn't even 1/2 sheet of drywall. The estimator who bid the job doesn't work there anymore so I had no backup about opening the ceiling. The finish work that they did is fine, with the exception of the paint. It's not the color we wanted. We even gave them the paint can with the code for the color. Can got left in the back of workman's pickup for over 2 weeks, now you can't read the code. Nice! If they would of read the quote, compared it to the work that was done, it was obvious that something was wrong, with the amount of material bid, compared to what they used. This was insurance work, so I can only assume this is how they do business. They don't have 16 hours of labor in the job, and minimal material. When they came to collect their money, I offered them $1000.00. They said no, we have a contract for $3000.00 and that was that. So now I have a lien on my house and still need to have it fixed. Stay away from these people. In my opinion management is the problem. They never even addressed the problem and my house could still be in danger of falling, Bob m. no worries, it warranty is 5 years so no worries, if falls in that time they would fix it. Stupid statement in my opinion.

Hi David,
We never like to have unhappy customers.
I am confused as to why you declined our offer to repaint the color of your choice and perform any other repairs to the drywall as this work is all under warranty and it is our goal to make sure our customers are pleased with our work.
After reviewing the file and speaking with those involved, this is what I found:
1. The framing was indeed repaired and reinforced on your support wall. When opening the drywall, they found an incorrectly "sistered stud" which they corrected, which should prevent future issues/support weight on the roof. They did not charge for the framing repairs, using the credit for replacing less drywall. Yes, we could have explained this better.
The insufficient support wall was found to be the issue that caused this crack in your ceiling. Due to the unusual amount of snow this year in your area, it's weakness finally was shown.
2. Labor hours include the hours spent purchasing the items for your individual job, such as the paint, the parts to repair the studwall, the texture, etc.
3. The paint can was stored in an office in our shop, not in a vehicle. We have to keep items from separate job separated in our facility.
Again, I am sorry you are unhappy with the work performed or the cost of the work performed. We would be happy to work with you, do the changes the superintendent and construction manager offered on 7/27/2023 or meet with you again to explain the pricing.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. - Diane P.CA, CA01May 23, 2023
We were victims of a bait and switch. Progressive Insurance recommended CRBR for water remediation - a broken water heater seeped into our master closet (Approximately 100 square feet.) The CRBR representative came out gave an estimate and said they'd work with our insurance company; had us sign a form. We agreed; they ripped out and removed the carpet, pad and trim placed 3 huge fans in and outside the closet. They removed the closet door which took 3 seconds and charged $65 for that; the fans were hundreds of dollars for 2 days use. They came back 3 days later instead of 2 as needed because want to pick up on the weekend when they came to pick up the fans they told us they would have to charge another $600+ to provide new carpet pad and reinstall the dried out carpet and couldn't do it for several days to weeks. We had to pay another company to finish the job.
THEY NEVER "WORKED WITH OUR INSURANCE COMPANY" We received a check for $850 which was the balance after paying our $500 deductible which we forwarded to CRBR. I disputed their bill by phone, letter, written on invoices. They continue to ignore us; won't reduce the balance ($350) and continue to send us bills FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE BILL EVEN AFTER THEY WERE PAID BY PROGRESSIVE! We could have ripped out the carpet and pad our selves and rented the fans. VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE WAY WE WERE TREATED - not to mention we are seniors on a fixed income which was the reason their guys said they'd work with our insurance!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Diane,
We always want to have happy customers. I am sorry this process has not been easy.
I think part of the confusion is due to your insurance company advising us of a different deductible amount than the $500 you mention above. You may want to discuss that with your insurer and verify the amount of your deductible.
I wonder if we have a wrong telephone number for you as there are many messages recorded to the telephone number we have for you.
Our branch manager is sending you a letter by US mail reviewing the breakdown of funds with you. He reviewed his information with the insurance company and you will want to as well once you receive it.
We would also be happy to have someone sit and go over the invoice with you, as well as show you a copy of the check we received from your insurer and the monies received from you. It might be easier to actually see all the documentation.
Again, I never want an unhappy customer and hope you will give us an opportunity to review your file with you. - Kira S.CA, CA026Jul 5, 2022
Our upstairs guest bathroom flooded in December 2021, which leaked through the shared wall with our master bathroom, as well as down into the ceiling above our kitchen. The fix to our kitchen ceiling went smoothly; however the bathroom repairs are just now wrapping up - 7 months later. Throughout the process CRBR has caused numerous project delays as well as cost overages, due to their own lack of professionalism, incompetence, low-quality work and poor communication within their organization as well as with my husband and me. Below are examples of how poorly this project has been handled:
-On at least 3 separate occasions, CRBR workers have been scheduled to come work, and have not shown up. When we called to inquire where they were, the secretary/receptionist/scheduler informed us that whoops, she forgot to put us on the schedule. So then we had to reschedule, which oftentimes pushed out into the following week.
-On a Thursday, the men working in our house mentioned they were being pulled off the job due to non-payment. We were confused as we had not received any invoices, or communication from the project manager as to payment being due yet. When we called to inquire, first we were told the invoices had been sent to us and our payments were overdue. We checked email - no invoices. Then we were informed that whoops, staff had forgotten to send us any invoices, and nobody bothered to call us to ask about why we hadn't paid yet. By the time we figured that out, workers were already scheduled to another project and couldn't return until the following week. We were left with both upstairs toilets uninstalled and left in the shower stalls, so we could not use the toilets or showers all weekend.
-The guest bathroom oilet was re-installed incorrectly by CRBR. Within 2 hours it started leaking, which necessitated CRBR workers coming after-hours to fix it, rip out the newly re-installed baseboard and leave a fan running all night so ensure no additional water damage.
-CRBR was too busy to clean the grout haze off of the newly installed tiles in the master bathroom, and only came to clean it when I asked them to tell me what materials I needed to do it myself. See photo.
-CRBR replaced the guest room vanity as they broke the original by mistake. They did not match the replacement to the rest of the granite (bullnose edge) so had to schedule yet an additional day for them to come out and grind the edges down - which should have been done prior to installing.
-CRBR dumped brown grout wastewater into our front yard rocks, which stained both the rocks and the sidewalk below. See photo.
-CRBR left paint smears on our keyless entry, and denied it was done by them. See photo.
-CRBR did not use any type of shoe protectors or lay down tarps/carpet protection, so the carpet up the staircase and down the hallway is destroyed. I am still awaiting a reply as to whether CRBR will replace the carpet, or at the very least clean it. The project manager indicated they would likely not replace, and even tried to tell me it was already in bad condition (not true). See photos.
Overall I would not recommend CRBR to anyone. The lack of professionalism,
poor repairs and resulting damage to my home is so disappointing and I'm still in shock as to how much of my time and energy has been wasted - as well as that of CRBR. Their poor communication and shoddy work cost thousands of dollars and extra weeks of work to fix their many mistakes.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

In response to the below comment, the handrail was loaded with sap and too wet to hold water let alone stain. The certificate of satisfaction was signed with my wife and Vince at your office prior to resolution to this issue. Jason and Spencer both co.mented on the woods condition at time of install.
In regards to opting out of certain repairs, that is our right as insured homeowners and has nothing to do with the defective wood that was installed. Every week I would attempt to see if the wood was ready for stain. The steps still haven't been stained yet they are fine. And those were installed October...

We never like to have unhappy customers.
We have reviewed the file, the photos at the different stages of the job, the estimates, as well as all other documents in order to fully understand all aspects of the work completed at your home.
We took photos of the completed handrail and deck repairs in October of 2020 and there weren't any issues with the handrail. There is a signed Certificate of Satisfaction dated Feb. 26, 2021 for the work. We pulled a permit for the handrails and it passed the building inspection.
You opted out of many of the insurance approved repairs, including the standard repair method of sanding, staining and sealing the new deck lumber which we strongly recommended you do right after installation. You asked to be given the insurance proceeds instead of having the work completed for you, which we did.
You later asked to have the handrails/lumber inspected. We had difficulty finding someone willing to go out to your house to inspect. We finally found someone willing to go out, who did not charge us, but he did confirm the condition of the lumber was due to it not being sanded and sealed as we had advised was needed. However, as said before, you had been provided the monies for this at your request.
We care a great deal about our customers. We only charged for the work completed. As you know, you chose to retain the insurance proceeds rather than complete many of the insurance approved repairs.Aug 10, 2021Previous reviewDONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
October 24th, 2019 and we are still dealing with incompetent leadership.
They installed peeling and splitting wood along our entire deck handrail and stairway. We noticed right away and verbalized our concern with how saturated the redwood was. It had sap leaking out everywhere and was wet to the touch. The workers had noticed and mentioned it to the Supervisor, Ray. On numerous occasions, Ray went back and forth trying to get the correct supplies the entire time. Always bringing the wrong things to our job site. Countless hours spent by the workers waiting for him to bring supplies and having to decline the materials because they were either not usable due to defect or incorrect. Verbally complaining that he just couldn't get it right.
So we asked CRBR not to have him return and send James or someone else that was qualified to supervise our job. We asked several times, finally getting a promise to switch supervisors. But they didn't. Ray returned later in the job and brought the defective redwood to be installed. And they installed it in the spring of 2020.
I told Vince, James, Ray and everyone I was supposed to at CRBR that I could not stain the wood to protect it right away due to its defects. They told me they would send someone up to inspect it, even after sending them pictures of the peeling and cracking. We even had an in person meeting at their shop and at their request we signed completion documents for the job. Vince promised they would make it right.
Instead they pushed us off longer and longer, until finally now. To inspect it they hired someone from the outside to come look at it and right a report on their findings. I'm sure you can come up with the rest...the report said due to neglect to stain and protect the wood it is now defective. WOW!! Imagine that, you pay someone to write a report the way you want.
It's obvious they cared only to collect my insurance money and not me as the customer. - Prim R.Chico, CA03Mar 21, 2022
Avoid these clowns with a passion. Let me TRY to break it down.
1: Had a fire in the garage, both structural damage and damage to contents, rented space. Tenant situation, these muppets were recommended by my insurance agent.
2: While ONLY having access to content insurance, Landlord decided to kick me out and do the other work(cleaning/repairing walls/ceiling/structure) AFTER I leave.
3: They took over 2 weeks to get me an ESTIMATE. Estimator was busy/in school/ in meetings.. When I finally had enough I called and let them know I needed it the next day(friday) or to forget it.
4:The following monday the estimator called with his estimate, as chipper as could be. And told him no, I already said it was too late, and had started trying to do it myself.
5: 2 weeks after that.. they called AGAIN... trying to schedule the work.
(I had already reached out to Servpro to see if there was ANYTHING they could do to help, and continue to struggle on my own.
6: another ~2 weeks and they call AGAIN... And I lost it. Apparently "No" is not a word anyone there understands. If you chose to use these morons, well GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Horrible company with a few good people but their business practice is almost criminal. They will charge you coming and going. if you have them bid any part and decide to not use them for it they will charge you a 10% quoting fee. We had them quote water damage in our laundry room for the insurance company. They gave us an estimate on everything including subcontracting out the cabinets but said that could and would change. We had them do everything but the cabinets and they charged us 10% for a bid on the cabinets that wasn't even dependable.
The final stay was when they forgot to do some of the work and still wanted to charge us for it. After arguing about it for months I gave up and paid them. Please don't make the mistake i did by not checking their reviews first.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I am so sorry that you were unhappy with our service. Obviously, I want all customers to be pleased with the service they receive.
In researching this job, it appears there was miscommunication and our team should have made sure you understood. Contractors traditionally charge for the installation even when customers purchase items elsewhere, the coordination with other vendors and getting the items to the jobsite when needed. We also should have reviewed the budget we allowed on our contract for the items you were purchasing. It sounds as if we fell short explaining this to you.
I do appreciate your feedback as it points out where we need to improve going forward.
Again, I apologize for the miscommunication you experienced while working with us.
